These offenses include possession of prohibited weapons including but not limited to certain types of knives or guns, brass or metal knuckles, belt buckle knife, cane gun or sword, concealed dirk or dagger, explosives, lipstick case knife, high capacity magazines, shuriken, nunchaku, and various firearms.

You are allowed to own and possess a gun in California, however, there are many exceptions and rules that come with this right. Most adults are allowed to purchase and own a gun if they do not have a criminal record and you may carry it from place to place in a locked container in accordance with the laws of the state.
